JANN DAVIS is a nationally recognized dance education consultant, social media grandfluencer, who specializes in supporting dance educators, studio owners, and enrichment program directors in organizing and advancing their instructional practices. She assists with developing classroom benchmarks, lesson plans, assessments, curriculum, and effective classroom management strategies.

With over 25 years of experience as the owner of the Jann Davis Dance Center in Westwood, Canton, and Easton, MA, she has influenced generations of dancers and educators. Jann is also the founder of the American Dance Invitational® (1977–2006) and creator of several successful programs including “Dance Moves” for recreational departments and YBrand programs across Massachusetts. Her choreography and directorial credits include productions of Annie Junior and The Wizard of Oz, and she has coached competitive high school dance teams.

A respected figure in the professional dance community, Jann has served on the executive board of Dance Masters of New England Chapter #5, where she held the position of First Vice President of that Chapter, and adjudicated numerous competitions including those for DMA Chapters #2, #5, #8, and #18, and Andy Yosinoff’s New England Cheer & Dance Competition. She was a member in good standing of the Dance Teachers’ Club of Boston and Dance Masters of America.

In public education, Jann was a Senior Trainer and Master Teacher for the Intel® Teach to the Future initiative sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and has taught English and technology education at Mashpee High School, Cape Cod Technical High School, and Virtual High School. She holds degrees from Northeastern University (BS, MA Ed), Smith College (MFA), and Harvard University (M.Ed.), and is professionally certified in five fields of education, including dance, by the Massachusetts Department of Education. Jann is also the recipient of a scholarship from the Harvard Kennedy School and has completed professional development courses through the Disney Institute®.

As the developer of the original adjudicated scoring system for studio dance competitions in 1976 and the creator of EXPECTATIONS for Dance Curriculum Frameworks®, Jann continues to lead the field in dance education reform. She is also the visionary behind American Sport Dance Games®, a modern alternative to traditional studio dance competitions.
